Following is the list of companies in which Malaz had invested.  A brief background information on each of these companies is given below:

NewTek Solutions

NewTek is a leading regional information technology company based in Dubai, UAE with offices in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Cairo, Egypt. NewTek provides IT solutions and business consulting services to its clients in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. NewTek has significant expertise in providing systems and solutions to the banking and the oil & gas sectors. NewTek was founded in June 1999 with funding from the management team and some angel investors. In March 2000, Malaz Group was the lead investor in the second round of financing that raised US$2 million for the company from institutional investors.

Since its formation in 1999, NewTek has made significant progress. Revenues of the company have reached US$6.6 million for the 12 months ending in June 2001, with an expanding list of customers.

Yousuf Ward is the co-founder and CEO of NewTek and has over 20 years of management & marketing experience in the IT industry.

Newtek recently merged with ACT and Elite to form Ejada Systems (www.ejada.com.sa) .  MALAZ group played an important part in developing the vision and helping facilitate the merger. The merging of businesses with strong synergies represent a new way to create value in the strongly fragmented ICT market of the MENA.  On 1st January 2005 the newly created Ejada Company was born a giant with some 350 employees, Turn over exceeding $65M, and offices in Cairo, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Dubai.

Malaz Technology & Communication Co.

This company was launched in 2003 to specialize in delivering contact center systems and has developed a backlog of SR40million by its second year of operation.  It is a good example of the contribution of Malaz Partners in focusing the business and assisting management to streamline the operation of the company.  The company is a major partner of AVAYA Communication Co. and a major system integrator for the Saudi Telecommunication Co.

Al-Khaleej Training & Information Technology – Cairo, Egypt

This company was launched in partnership with Al-Khaleej Training & Education Co., the master franchisor of New Horizons Computer Learning Centers and other investors to take advantage of a large training and education market in Egypt.  The company was profitable in its first year of operation and has already occupied a distinguished place in the market with three locations and is currently expanding its network.

Mannai Technical Services

Mannai is a fast growing enterprise specializing in the sale of chemical analyzers and laboratory equipment.  It is also a system integrator of in line chemical analyzers within especially constructed protection chambers.  This activity carries significant potential in the Oil & Gas sector and offers Mannai Technical Services the opportunity to develop as a leading regional engineering concern.  Other activities include process optimization, turnkey laboratories and training services.  Mannai Technical Services is a group of companies that include:

2Connect

 

2Connect is a Bahrain-based start up offering Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) services to the whole of the Kingdom of Bahrain along with international telephony.  The wireless platform will be used for other services in later stages such as national telephony.  2Connect is launching its BWA service to thirty business clients during the month of June 2005.  The company plans to expand its services to other Middle East countries and has ambitious growth plans.

Business Process Management – Middle East

This company was incorporated in May of 2005 in Bahrain to provide tools, consulting and training in the area of business process management in the Gulf Region.  It has a partnership with IDS Scheer, a leading German supplier of software tools for this area and has already built a network of value added resellers in the region.  The company is led by Mark Ragel who has over thirty years of experience in business process management and automation.

IAIC Al-Khaleej  

Malaz Group is a founding shareholder of the Islamic Arab Insurance Co. (IAIC Al-Khaleej) which is incorporated under the new insurance regulations of the Monetary Agency of Saudi Arabia.  IAIC is established at SR100million in capital and plans to offer Islamic insurance services in the medical and commercial areas.  It plans to be listed on the Saudi Stock Market in the coming few months.
